Dog Training

What is the difference between Clinical Ethology and Dog Training?

Behavioral problems can be considered pathological disorders that require professional treatment delivered by a clinical ethologist. On the other hand, educational problems are usually corrected bymeans of dog training sessions and courses.
Educating your dog

What does it entail?

A good relationship with a dog is largely based on educating the animal correctly so that it obeys commands, such as coming when called and not overstepping any limits itis given. If there are anyissues with this relationship it can be due to inappropriate training approaches or a lack ofknowledge regarding the animal’s needs.

Casos de Éxito

Dog Training

At times, the incorrect use of force or aversives, which is most often unnecessary, can seriously affect a dog’s conduct. Not just anything willdoto train a dog – being ethical is crucial. Itis possible to correct, work on and modify problematic behaviors while also ensuring the dog’s wellbeing.

  • Going for a walk without pulling the leash.
  • Coming when called.
  • Not begging for food at the table.
  • Not jumping on the bed.
  • Teaching limits and tolerance to frustration.
  • Achieving a calm and self-controlled state when faced with different stimuli.
  • Learning togo for a walk in a correct manner.
  • Etc.

Behavior modification for cats

When it comes to cats, wedo not deal with training issues, but rather tend to behavioral problems from an ethological perspective with the help of a certified veterinarian who carries out diagnoses.
  • Territory marking problems: urinating or defecating in inappropriate places; scratching furniture…
  • Feline aggressiveness.
  • Fear-related problems: shy cats
  • Etc.

How does training help pets and their owners?

It improves the relationship and understanding between both, as well as co-habitation.

One of the most common problems that families with dogs have is the animal’s lack of training. Inmany cases, these problems are not behavioral issues but simply the owner’s lack of knowledge onhowto correctly train the dog. Sometimes tools are used to solve these problems, yet these tools usually do nothing more than cover up the issues and, in some cases, can even make them worse. This means that a lack of dog training can become a behavioral problem like aggressiveness, fear or a weak relationship between the dog and its owner(s).

The owner’s involvement is of the essence.
